19th Century Boxwood and Ebonized Base Tea Caddy, English, circa 1820

19th century boxwood and ebonized base tea caddy in the form of a flower with a dome glass panel which holds a small bouquet of dried flowers. The interior is all original with remnants of a lead lining date circa 1820.

This is a stunning quality box with great detail in the carving to both the base and lid which gives a weaved effect. The overlaid straps and fine buckles really set it off. The original interior would have been either silk or taffeta and needed replacing to the light suede as shown.
