A rare Chinese export tortoiseshell tea caddy made for the Dutch market. The exterior has decorative lacquer panels on every surface. The top and front depict cranes and foliage while the side panels have decorative fans. The shaped body and interior reveals a single lid and remnants of the original lining. There is some light wear to the lacquer panels but the overall condition is good, with no damage to the tortoiseshell. Date circa 1840-1850. Cites licence required if sold outside of the EU.

19th century boxwood and ebonized base tea caddy in the form of a flower with a dome glass panel which holds a small bouquet of dried flowers. The interior is all original with remnants of a lead lining date circa 1820.
